Aloo ki katli

Aloo ki katli is a simple curry made with sliced round potato, tomato and few basic spices

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes / Aloo
  • 2 medium tomato Pureed
  • 2 Green chili/hari mirch mildly spiced
  • to taste Salt / Namak
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes /Kuti hui laal mirch
  • 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Sabut Jeera
  • 1/3 tsp Asafoetida / Hing powder
  • handful Fresh Coriander / Cilantro / Hara Dhaniya
  • 1 tsp Ghee/Clarified Butter optional

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and slice into medium thick circles (thicker than potato chips)
  • Heat oil in a heavy and wide flat bottom pan and add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  • After few seconds add the potato slices, mix and saute on medium heat.
  • Add salt and cook till they are 75% done, keep stirring gently , else the potato pieces can break
  • Now add the tomato puree , chopped green chilies, chili flakes and 1/4 cup water saute for a minute.
  • Cover with a lid and cook till done.(If you want more gravy then add more water )
  • Add freshly chopped coriander and one tsp ghee and mix.
  • Serve with your favourite bread or rice.
