Ingredients

  • 600 gm Cabbage / Patta Gobhi
  • 4 medium Potatoes / Aloo 400 gm
  • 3 medium Tomatoes / Tamatar
  • 2 Green Chillies / Hari Mirch
  • 1 tsp Ginger / Adrak
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder / Haldi Powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli powder / Laal mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder / Dhaniya Powder
  • pinch Garam Masala Powder
  • pinch Sugar / Chini
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Coriander / Cilantro / Hara Dhaniya
  • 1/3 cup Green Peas / Hari Matar optional

tempering/ tadka

  • 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds / Rai *
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds / Sabut Jeera
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida / Hing powder
  • 1 Bay Leaves / Tej Patta

Instructions

  • Wash and chop potatoes into big pieces and wash and chop the cabbage.
  • In the pressure cook add 1/2 tsp salt and 1 cup water and then add the chopped cabbage and on top of it place the potato pieces and pressure cook for 3 whistles on high heat
  • In a separate pan add mustard oil and then add cumin seeds ,bay leaf, 1 black cardamom, chopped green chili and asafoetida.
  • Now add chopped tomato ,green peas ginger and salt and cook till tomato become soft.
  • Add all the dry masala powders and saute and then add 1/2 cup water from the pressure cooker.(don't add all the water from the cooker)
  • Mix it and then add the boiled vegetables only. mix, cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes on medium to low heat.
  • Add fresh coriander and serve with roti, paratha or rice.
