Moong Dal Toast

Moong Dal Toast- A healthy filling lentil and vegetable toast

Ingredients

  • 6 Bread Slices
  • 1/2 cup Yellow Lentil / Moong Daal (dhuli huee)
  • 1/2 Carrot / Gajar
  • 1/2 cup Bell Peppers / Capsicum / Shimla Mirch
  • 1/2 cup Tomatoes / Tamatar
  • 3 tbsp Corn Kernels / Makai Dana
  • 2 Green Chillies / Hari Mirch
  • 4 tbsp Fresh Coriander / Cilantro / Hara Dhaniya
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder / Haldi Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili flakes /Kuti hui laal mirch
  • to taste Salt / Namak
  • pinch Asafoetida / Hing powder
  • pinch Baking Soda

Instructions

  • Wash moong dal and soak in enough water for minimum 3-4 hours.
  • Drain the water after soaking the time and wash it well to remove any odor and then grind to make a thick paste, add 1 chopped green chili and 1 tsp ginger while grinding.
  • Chop all the vegetable finely and keep in a bowl.
  • Take the ground lentil paste in a big wide bowl and add all the spices and baking sods and mix it well.
  • Take out some chopped vegetables for garnish and add the rest of the vegetables in the dal mixture and mix well.
  • You can trim the sides of the bread if you want too but this is optional.
  • Apply some butter on the bread slice and then apply a thick layer of the dal batter on one side.
  • Grease the pan with some oil , ghee or butter and put the toast on the tawa with the dal side facing down.
  • Gently press with the spatula and cook on low heat till it get toasted well.
  • Now apply dal batter on the top layer , you can cover the toast with a lid so it get cooked faster.
  • When the bottom side get cooked then flip it and let it cook from the other side too.
  • Apply butter or oil on both the sides so it get roasted nicely.
  • Remove from the pan when roasted from both the sides.
  • Cut the toast into desired shapes
  • You can also grate some cheese on top before serving to your kids.
  • Serve these crisp delicious toast with chutney or ketchup.

Notes

Note-
  • you can any vegetables of your choice or make just with lentil paste
  • can add oregano or pepper powder.
