Aam ke pakode- delicious sweet and sour ripe mango fritters
During the monsoon season, we all crave fried and spicy snacks. Pakodas or fritters are some of the most favorite snacks to make during this time. We all make different varieties of pakodas or bhajiyas during the monsoon season.
The most popular ones are potato, brinjal, chili, cauliflower, etc. My mom makes so many different types of innovative pakodas, which we all love relishing.
This is also mango season in India, and you must have tried many recipes using ripe and raw mangoes. So many shakes, drinks, pickles, and chutneys are made using mangoes during the season, but I am sure you may not have tried a snack made with mangoes.
My mother used to make amazing pakodas with vegetables and even fruits, such as ripe banana pakodas, starfruit pakodas, and guava pakodas. Inspired by her, I recently tried making these ripe mango pakodas, and they turned out amazingly well. Everyone at home loved them.
These pakodas are slightly sweet, slightly tangy, and you don’t need any dip to enjoy them. Just a cup of masala chai with these pakodas is enough to enjoy.
These pakodas are very easy to make. You just need a ripe but firm mango to start with. You can use any variety of mango, but avoid very fibrous ones. Make a batter with gram flour and rice flour, along with all the basic spices used to make pakodas. Dip the mango slices in the batter and deep-fry until golden and crisp. Serve with any chutney, or just enjoy them with a cup of masala chai.
