Hello Readers –
First – apologies for not being able to post frequently in the last few weeks. We have moved to a new residence, and I am still setting up my new kitchen. Once things settle down (soon), I will be coming up with some new and more exciting things. Today’s post is a unique one – it is not a recipe but a review of a very special book – You are the Best Wife – by Ajay K Pandey
Set in Allahabad – the book charts the slick and long-lasting love story of a very unlikely couple (Ajay and Bhavna) from their first day in college through the various celebrations and tragedies that life brings to them. In many ways, it is an accurate representation of the experiences that many other couples may find themselves going through. The Book Layout is in chronological order so you get to follow the couple throughout their lives. The first day in college, career insecurities, orthodox parents, hostel life – the book in many ways charts the course that romantic lives of Indian youth usually follow. Packed to the hilt with very real humor – the book is an Amazon bestseller for a reason. It’s not literature – it’s a very light Chetan Bhagat style book. However – with one very major difference.
It’s a real story – every date, every character, every quote. Ajay and Bhavna are my son’s very close friends since college – and we have known the couple personally as family. Bhavna left all of us a few years ago due to an aggravated case of dengue. This book is an attempt to share their story, from the first time they saw each other, to their last good bye at AIIMS New Delhi. The way they helped each other grow as human beings, the way their parents grew, and the relationship between Ajay and his inlaws after Bhavna’s passing – all brings into perspective many things. The invisible differences that a good spouse makes in your life, the insecurities parents have but usually don’t speak of, and how humor and love ultimately make the real difference in life.
Having gone in two reprints already, this book is doing very well. Costs about two dollars (150 Rs.), and all proceeds go to a trust set up in Bhavna’s name. You can get the kindle version at http://amzn.to/1N1UgiJ
Great job Ajay and Bhavna! You two are the best couple!
