Honey Chili Beans – A quick stir fried crunchy french bean salad

Sauteed green beans with sesame, honey and lemon juice are a great side dish with your meal or as a snack. These beans are delicious, crunchy, buttery and mildly spicy. The flavour of butter, honey and chili flakes creates a complex fusion of sweet, savoury, and spicy that enhances your tastebuds.

These Chinese chili beans are enjoyed by everyone – kids and adults alike. You can also pack these in kids’ lunch boxes. The best thing about this recipe is that it can be made quickly and taste quite exotic. There are few ways of making it, but I am sharing my version here.

How to make Chinese style honey chili beans :

You need fresh young french beans to make it. Trim the ends and add in boiling water for 3 -4 minutes. Add some salt in the water. then take out the beans from the water and drain on a kitchen napkin to absorb the water. Make sure there will be no water on the beans or else it will splatter while stir frying.

Heat some butter or olive oil in a pan and quickly saute the beans on high heat until they blister slightly. It will take around two minutes for this to take place. Don’t cook for longer then this or else it will lose its crispness and become mushy. Now add all the spices and sauces and mix quickly. Then take them out from the pan and add the toasted sesame seeds and serve hot.
