Bread Poha- a quick breakfast recipe to use your leftover bread

Bread Poha- My today’s recipe is very simple and quick.A nice way to use your leftover bread to make a quick fix snack. It is made by tossing leftover bread cubes with some masala in a tempering made of tomatoes etc. It is popular in many small joints and college canteens, a good recipe to quickly make for breakfast or for kids tiffin.

You can make it using fresh or leftover bread, any type of bread, white , multigrain or even pav can be used to make this bread poha. but don’t use too dry bread  else it won’t taste good.

You can call it bread upma or bread poha. You need just a few ingredients to make this delicious filling breakfast or tiffin for your kids .I have added some buttermilk to soften it,but you can also sprinkle some water or avoid both  if you want to make it crisp. If the bread is fresh then no need to add buttermilk or water.

How to Make Bread Poha

To make bread poha I make a tadka in some oil with mustard seeds, cumin, cashews or peanuts (are optional )hing ,green chili, ginger, curry leaves and then add chopped tomatoes, salt, chili powder, turmeric and saute, mix and cook till it become soft and oil start releasing. Now add the cubed bread in the masala and mix well. Saute on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Now add lemon juice and chopped fresh coriander and mix. Serve hot with tea or pack in your lunch box.
