Cheery Dip- A sweet and tangy yogurt cherry dip recipe

Cherry Dip- Dips are that little change which can tweak the taste of any of our snacks. All over the world there are various variety of dips all with a small change in ingredient and a great change in taste.

Summers in Dubai are really really hot, the only welcome change are the wealth of various ripe produce you see in the farmers market . Of all of the sweet things you can find, summer fruits doubtlessly make the healthiest snack or dessert ideas. They are highly nutritious with an abundant supply of fiber, vitamins, minerals and nutrients, which can help boost your metabolism, strengthen your immune system, protect you from cancer and improve your overall health.Mixture of these fruits can make various types of dishes and drinks.

In summers we look for ways to lighten our diet and try thinks which are cooling for our body. So one summer afternoon when i was making our regular Dal , Chawal , Roti and was wondering how should I make this more interesting .

Well going back to the recipe so I made this dip of cherry and yoghurt and served it for lunch and it was DELICIOUS and was really loved by my family, so now its a regular in our routine food . So here is the recipe , I hope you all will like it as much as i did

I often make different rypes of fruit and vegetable Raitas like- Bottle gourd/lauki ka raita  and healthy and colourful – Spinach/Palak ka raita  and  Yellow pumpkin /kaddu ka raita etc. Yesterday I brought a box of cherries which are little tart so just lying in the refrigerator so i tried out this new recipe which would have goodness of yoghurt and nutrition of cherries. It is a known fact that red cherries are a rich source of antioxidants and help fight many diseases.

Ingredients

  • 18 Red Cherries
  • 3/4 cup Yogurt / Dahi
  • 1 tsp Sugar / Chini
  • 1 pinch Black Salt / Kala Namak
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chilli powder / Laal mirch powder
  • 1/4 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder / Jeera Powder
  • to taste Salt / Namak

Instructions

  • Wash the cherries, and remove the stems and seeds
  • Grind the cherries with 2 tsps of water to make a puree
  • Whisk curd with all the spices and sugar
  • Mix puree with yogurt and mix
  • Serve chilled. It stays fresh for 3 days in the refrigerator. Goes well with chips, bread, or rice.
