There are many variation of making chaas , some add mint and coriander paste , some like to have it plain and just add salt and in south India  they made very flavourful and delicious – Neer more with curry leaves and mustard tempering. In Punjab and whole North India salt, black salt and roasted cumin powder are added in chaas which gives a nice taste and aroma.

Black salt and cumin both are very good for digestion so it is added in all types of raita and Aloo chaat and chaas recipes .Roasting enhance the flavour of cumin and it goes very well with any yogurt preparation. If you don’t have black salt or don’t like its typical smell of black salt then can skip it and can use only regular table salt.
